Synopsis

When an English writer moves to a remote Norwegian cabin for peace and quiet, he discovers it already has a tenant — Grim, a tiny, mischievous, porridge-stealing troll. A warm, funny chapter book about friendship, folklore and finding home in an unfamiliar place. For ages 6–10.

When Stewart moves into his remote cabin in Telemark, Norway, he expects peace, quiet and maybe some snow. What he doesn’t expect is Grim — a tiny, sticky-footed troll who insists the cabin technically belongs to him, has eaten half of Stewart’s porridge, and is determined to meddle in every aspect of his new tenant’s life.

Across eight chapters, Grim sets out to teach Stewart proper Norwegian customs — from cross-country skiing and fishing to wild troll parties, a trip to Yorkshire, and the all-important art of eating cake without getting cream on your face. Through magical mishaps and cultural discoveries, an unlikely friendship is born that crosses species and borders. Woven with real Norwegian folklore and a built-in glossary, Hytte Troll is a gentle, funny introduction to Scandinavian culture for young readers.
